Our Story

Crow Wing Food Co-op (CWFC) is a cooperatively owned grocery store dedicated to sustaining a healthy and thriving community. CWFC was founded in 1979 to create everyday local access to healthy foods (back when things like whole wheat flour were hard to find).

Founding members banded together, drafted by-laws and articles of incorporation, sold membership shares, and eventually opened a small storefront. Crow Wing Food Co-op was born. After several small storefronts in Brainerd, we have a found a long-term home in Downtown Brainerd.
